Quince Passenger Missions: What the Fuss is All About

Current Status:

September 13, 3303:
Short haul passenger missions were patched in June and are permanently unavailable. Data scan missions are somewhat limited, but still profitable. A change is supposed to be coming in 2.4 that prevents one scan from completing all of the scan missions that have been stacked.

Prior Status Updates:

...June 16, 3303: This is likely my final Quince update for a while. Local factions are showing boom status, yet short range passenger missions are not available. Scan missions are available, but scarce.

I decided to stop at the rank of Count. I don't want to buy a Cutter, and I already unlocked the Clipper when I hit Baron. I am returning to my home system of Rhea to continue working on my Federation rank. (and will likely pick up a Clipper soon) After spending three weeks in the Empire, I definitely prefer my Federation roots, and will be glad to return there.

...June 11, 3303:

1. Jeffries High passenger missions are unavailable. There are long range passenger missions in the list, but none of the profitable short haul type.

2. Surface data scan missions ARE available in both Millerport and Jeffries High.

...May 29, 3303, Jeffries High in Quince is on lockdown and passenger missions are unavailable.

...May 21, 3303, the Quince short-haul passenger missions out of Jeffries High are still valid.

System: Quince
Station: Jeffries High

Pilots take the profitable passenger missions here to quickly gain rank and reputation with the Empire.

In my own experience, I estimate it took eight hours real time to get 100% reputation with the Empire, and ended up with $253 million credits. NOTE: After reaching 100% rank I went closer to the bubble to find rank-up missions, and my reputation dropped quickly while I tried to gain rep with local factions for a week or so. I dropped to 85% or so Imperial reputation and reached a rank of Viscount before having to work on ranking up beyond that.

I outfitted my Python with no shields and six passenger cabins (first class and business class).

How to make the quick profit runs:

1. Go to Jeffries High and take missions for Gaylen's Ascension and Quince Visitor's Beacon. If you are concerned with gaining reputation and rank over credits, then be sure to look for the Imperial logo on the local factions affiliated with the Empire. If you do not see the Imperial watermark on a mission, then that mission is only earning you credits.

Take note - if you don't like silent running, then be more selective on the missions, since many of them have wanted passengers on them. If you have a wanted passenger on board and get scanned, then any nearby enforcers will attack you immediately, as well as station defenses. But if you flip the mission board (solo-to-open and open-to-solo), it does not take long to find missions that avoid the 'wanted' type.

2. Launch from Jeffries and select Gaylen's Ascension as your destination - it is right near the station. Drop out of supercruise at Gaylen and scan the beacon (select it so that you see the white brackets around it). ALL of the missions (even the Quince ones) will complete when the scan finishes. You may have to wait 30 seconds or so for all missions to show completed. Just watch the upper right HUD and count them until they are all showing as done.

3. Return to Jeffries and turn them all in.

With the Python I can do six missions at once with a round trip of about five to eight minutes.

Pilots report that the "rank up" missions are not offered at Jeffries High. So just ignore the rank up and focus on getting to 100% Empire reputation. You continue to earn rank even though you have not done the first rank up mission. Then return to the populated bubble and find an Empire station where you can get to at least cordial status with the local factions. That will not take long to do, since you have full reputation with the Empire. At that point you should start seeing the rank up missions being offered. Look for "Imperial Navy" references:

Imperial Navy Acquisition Contract, or Courier Job for Imperial Navy Intelligence, etc.
